MTA Solicitors operates an Employer Assistance Service focussed on protecting both you and your employees to ensure all your policies and procedures are and remain compliant with current legislation.

Our aim is to prevent any disputes with employees. Inevitably issues will arise through the employment of staff and when they do happen through membership of our assistance service you will receive full support and advice and where necessary legal representation.

The service includes:-

Policy and Procedure

We will review your current policies and procedures on an ongoing basis and where necessary adapt them to ensure they are and remain fully compliant with all UK employment legislation. These policies will include: -

  • Disciplinary
  • Grievance
  • Harassment
  • Equal Opportunities (Age, Sex, Disability and Race Discrimination)
  • Redundancy
  • Holiday and Sickness
  • Maternity and Paternity

In the event you do not have any of the above policies or your current policies are out of date we will develop and implement them with you.


Terms and Conditions of Employment

We will review your existing terms and conditions of employment to ensure they protect you and your employees. These will include:-

  • Contracts of employment – All employees require an employment contract within 2 weeks of commencing employment.
  • Confidentiality Agreements – To protect your business it is important that employees work under a sensible confidentiality agreement both during and after their employment.
  • General Correspondence – Some correspondence with your employee may form part of their terms and conditions.

Advisory Service

Direct telephone access to an experienced member of our employment team to discuss any issues or concerns you may have and to obtain guidance on how to deal with them.


Representation

Subject to you complying with our terms and conditions, and implementing and following our advice your membership fee will provide you with legal representation without further charge for the following:

Grievances - Telephone based advice in relation to any grievances or potential dispute raised by an employee.
Disciplinaries – Telephone based advice in relation to any disciplinary action raised by you against an employee.
Correspondence – Cover for legal costs in liaising with an employee or their representatives in relation to any dispute.
Tribunals – Cover for our legal costs (exc disbursements) in representing you at any tribunal subject to our terms and conditions.

Mediation

In some instances it will be possible to resolve a dispute through mediation. In the event of dispute, and with both parties consent, we will work with you and your employee to resolve any differences with a view to preventing litigation.


Training

Business Managers should be aware of employment legislation which affects their role and their management of employees.

We can work with you to develop a training programme to meet your business needs and ensure your managers understand what is required of them to protect your employees and your company.

Insurance

Although we are very confident that our advice will always be appropriate and correct, all advice provided is covered by our professional indemnity insurance. In the event you follow and implement our advice and we are latterly proved to be wrong you have the peace of mind of knowing that you are insured for any damages awarded as a result of negligent advice.


Charges

This service is provided on an annual membership which is paid monthly and is calculated as a fixed fee based on your total payroll costs and subject to a minimum fee of £150 per month. A Guide to the membership is as follows: -
