Our Management Team

Michael Taylor qualified in 1983, and became a partner in a criminal firm the same year. He worked there until 1986 when he moved to a firm of A.S. Matthews and remained a partner there from 1989 until 1993.

Taylor set up MTA Solicitors LLP in 2001. Experienced in personal injury, conveyancing, matrimonial law, probate and civil litigation, he is a member of the Law Society, a member of the Law Society Personal injury panel and a member of APIL with senior litigator status. Taylor is also a trained mediator.

David Green has overall responsibility for MTA from a strategic, financial and developmental perspective. Based in Bromley, although working across all offices, each departmental head reports directly into him. David’s focus is to keep as close to the business as possible to ensure that strategic, service and financial decisions taken are correct first time for both the MTA business and clients.

Having 12 years experience in the Insurance Industry, he previously worked for Churchill Insurance where his last post was Senior Manager in the claims department. David was responsible for technical and litigation management of several offices in the Group alongside management of their anti fraud department. Part of his role was also to manage their panel of Solicitors so he has always been close to law firms and the way in which they operate making it a natural step to take a position running a law firm.

David joined MTA in 2002 shortly after its launch in May 2001 to take responsibility for the fast growing Practice and work with the existing management structure to deliver a successful law firm.

John Walker has had a long career in Personal Injury law - working at differing sizes and types of law firm. John started his career in the City working for Lawrence Graham where he stayed for 18 years progressing from Outdoor Clerk through to Legal Executive and was admitted as a solicitor in 1990.

He moved then to Edward Lewis in Grays Inn Road for 3 years where he continued to specialise in Personal Injury Law and became a partner. After leaving Edward Lewis he joined Morgan Cole - a large practise with several offices running west across the country from London to Cardiff - and in 2003 joined Ormerods,a high street firm of 20 or so partners based in Croydon, where he managed the Personal Injury team.

John joined MTA Solicitors LLP in 2005 and is our Senior Supervising Solicitor and Head of Litigation. He is responsible primarily for managing the Litigation departments in both Bromley and Manchester.

Martyn is responsible for the operational part of the practice which incorporates departments such as its Legal Assistance, Credit Hire and Case Management System and Management Information. Although based in Bromley these areas cover all offices.

Previously working in the insurance industry for 13 years, he worked for both Churchill and Direct Line Insurance. During this time Martyn managed a technical team specialising in dealing with large loss defendant insurance claims and cases on behalf of the Motor Insurer’s Bureau. He has extensive experience in advising on cases where indemnity issues exist such as the Article 75 regulations and the Road Traffic Act.

Martyn joined MTA in 2002.

Debbie Sleet specialises in Personal Injury work, acting for seriously injured claimants. She is Supervising Solicitor & Manager of the Complex Case Team based in Bromley.

With over 20 years experience of claimant and defendant personal injury claims and substantial experience of litigating high value public liability, traffic accident and employer’s liability claims (including industrial disease, spinal injury and traumatic brain injury claims), Debbie’s experience includes 9 years working in the public sector.

Previously employed by Berrymans Lace Mawer, Royal Mail Group plc Legal Services, Pannone Pritchard Englefield and Easton Kinch and Bailey, Debbie has acted for claimants and defendants in high profile and high value employers liability, public liability and traffic accident claims involving mesothelioma, work-related psychological injury, paraplegia, brain damage, burns, multiple injuries, etc.

Debbie joined MTA in November 2004.

Rossanna specialises in personal injury claims and is Practice Manager in Manchester.

Before qualifying as a solicitor, Rossanna lectured in law for 5 years. After making the decision to leave education, she then secured a training contract with Colemans Ctts, Manchester. Upon qualification, Rossanna specialised in PI dealing predominantly with road traffic accident cases although she also gained experience of dealing with industrial disease claims. Whilst at Colemans, Rossanna was asked to utilise her training/mentoring skills to assist more junior fee earners with technical referrals within one of the major RTA departments.

She joined MTA in 2003 at the launch of the Manchester office.

Mike and his team look after new business enquiries into the group and make sure there is supply of quality work for MTA as and when required. Other areas the business development team get involved with are product development to create innovative legal services for MTA as well as identifying and applying for relevant tenders that are suitable for the group.

Mike started in the Insurance sector 23 years ago in Lloyds of London and then the broker markets. In 1997 Mike moved into the Legal Expenses Insurance market and this saw him working with Solicitors of all sizes throughout the UK. It was this understanding of both the Insurance and Legal sectors that has allowed Mike and the team not only to deliver MTA’s day to day business requirements but also offer MTA products to consider for future growth.

Christine manages the FRU (First Response Unit), the Administrative and Secretarial Departments and provides Managerial support to the Cashiers team all working out of the Bromley Office.

Previously having worked for Barclays Insurance and latterly in a world wide conferencing Company, Christine has over 15 years of Customer Service and Call Centre experience.

She joined MTA Solicitors LLP in August 2004 transferring from RBS.

Jayne is a Senior Practice Manager at MTA specialising in Personal Injury and is responsible for running the Litigation Department, which issues proceedings for liability or quantum disputes that can't be settled. The Department deals predominately with fast track cases, although there is one designated team who deal with personal injury cases involving outstanding credit hire claims. Jayne is responsible for the operational and technical management of the department.

Jayne has worked for various law firms in the personal injury field covering both claimant and defendant claims. Previously she worked for McGoldricks Solicitors for 10 years before moving to MTA Solicitors LLP in 2002.

June is a Senior Practice Manager at MTA specialising in Personal Injury and is responsible for running the Legal Assistance Department. The Legal Assistance Department deals with pre-litigation personal injury claims and June is responsible for the operational and technical management of the department.

June is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and has worked for various law firms in the personal injury field covering both claimant and defendant claims progressing from outdoor clerk to Manager.

Previously she worked for Greenwoods Solicitors for 10 years in London before moving to MTA Solicitors LLP in 2003.

Kerri Morley joined MTA Solicitors LLP in 2004 and is responsible for managing and overseeing the Human Resources Department within the company.

Kerri started her career 10 years ago initially as an HR Assistant for Independent Television News Ltd (ITN). She became HR Manager for MTA Solicitors LLP in February 2010.

Catherine joined MTA in 2009 and heads up the PR and Marketing team. She leads all internal and external communication initiatives for the business.

Catherine has eleven years public relations and marketing experience in various agency roles, covering consumer and business to business campaigns and holds a BA honours degree in English Literature from York University.

With very strong media contacts throughout the national, trade and regional media she is experienced in the planning and strategy of integrated PR and marketing programmes.

Having worked in generalist and specialist consultancies, Catherine’s experience spans a range of industries from property, construction, IT, legal and recruitment to leisure, food and manufacturing.

Mike Sutton is a Technical Practice Manager providing technical advice and assistance to colleagues and is the head of the After The Event Department, dealing with personal injury claims which are taken on a “no-win, no-fee” basis.

Mike started his career in law in 1986, working at Clyde & Co in the City for 11 years before moving to Eversheds in Birmingham, where he worked for 6 years and specialised in defending personal injury claims involving road traffic accidents, accidents at work and public liability claims.

After leaving Eversheds in 2003, he “changed sides” and started to represent injured Claimants, working at Sydney Mitchell Solicitors and then Colman Coyle before joining MTA in 2006.
